My name is Caleb. I graduated in 2014 from Watertown High School, in a small town with a very little music program. I am a freshman majoring in instrumental education. I would love to teach both band and choir for high school students.
I went to Warren County High School and now I'm a senior music education major. I've played flute for nine years and my long term goal is to be the director of bands at a college or university.
I am a graduate of Walker Valley High School in Cleveland, TN and I am a senior music education major. After I graduate from Tennessee Tech, my goal is to become an elementary school music teacher.
Rachael Lawson, Senior
Rachael Lawson is pursing a degree in Flute Performance and Music Education at Tennessee TecH University’s School of Music where she is a student of Dr. Mary Matthews. At TTU, she is principal flutist if the University Orchestra, piccoloist with the Wind Ensemble, and the flute section leader of the Golden Eagle Marching Band. Rachael is originally from Melbourne, FL but has lived in several states in the southeast. She was a member of the Tennessee All-State Orchestra in 2013 and 2014 and a member of the All-State Band in 2015. From 2013-2015 she was a member of the Knoxville Youth Symphony Orchestra and was the winner of the Rose Center Young Artist Competition in 2015.
In addition to playing the flute. Ms. Lawson is a member of the Honors Program and the Associated Scholars Guild where she is the A Capella Committee Chair. During her undergraduate studies, she was selected to receive the Charles Coker Fine Arts Award. As a project for honors credit, she designed her own Woodwind Methods curriculum. Rachael was also selected from her Harmony IV class to perform a composition project at a convocation.
Brittany McGuire, Senior
Brittany McGuire is a senior biology major pursuing minors in music and geoscience at Tennessee Tech University. She studies with Dr. Mary Matthews and is a former student of Dr. Roger Martin. She is always looking for ways to incorporate her love of birds and nature into her study of music!
Ms. McGuire has performed as a member of the TTU Flute Choir and Concert band. She is also a member of the Cookeville Community Band, performing on both flute and piccolo. Prior to her time at Tennessee Tech, she performed in the Festival of Winds and Percussion and was a member of the Cookeville High School band.
In 2018, she was selected to receive the W. H. Farley Memorial Biology Scholarship award. In addition to academic endeavors, Ms. McGuire works in the Hollister Herbarium and is an active student leader in the TTU Honors Program, holding positions such as Honors Council Chair, Vice President of the Associated Scholars Guild, and Chair of the ASG Social Committee. Ms. McGuire is passionate about animals and regularly volunteers at the Cookeville-Putnam County Animal Shelter, and in her free time is an avid fan of movies and TV
Joanna Humberd, Sophomore
Joanna Humberd is currently a sophomore instrumental music performance major at Tennessee Tech University's school of music where she is a student of Dr. Mary Matthews.
At TTU, Ms. Humberd currently serves as the secretary for the Tennessee Tech Flute Organization. She previously served as the piccoloist of the University Orchestra, the piccoloist of the Tennessee Tech Concert Band, a piccoloist in the Golden Eagle Marching Band, and has been involved in the Tennessee Tech Flute Choir. In the Fall of 2018, she performed as a piccoloist in the Bryan Symphony Orchestra’s production of Puccini’s La Boheme.
She is originally from Tullahoma, TN where she studied flute with Dr. Jessica Dunnavant. In 2017, she traveled to the naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, to commemorate the 75th anniversary, along with the Tullahoma High School band, as a piccoloist. She was also third chair flutist of the ETHOS Wind Ensemble in 2015.
Leah Davis, Sophomore
Leah Davis from Chattanooga Tennessee is currently studying at Tennessee Tech University where she is majoring in English and Spanish. At TTU, she is a flutist in the Golden Eagle Marching Band. Ms. Davis is an alumni of Boyd Buchanan where she was a flutist in the band under the direction of Jeremy Womack.

The Boyd Buchanan Band has also been an active participant of the national USBands marching competition for many years. Ms Davis is originally from Chattanooga, TN.
Rebecca Singletary, Senior
Rebecca Singletary is a flutist and pianist in Cookeville TN. Ms. Singletary attends Tennessee Tech University's School of Music as a music education major formerly under the instruction of Dr. Roger Martin and currently under Dr. Mary Matthews.
While at TTU, Ms. Singletary has performed as principal flutist in the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, drum major for the Golden Eagle Marching Band, and a member of the TTU Flute Choir. Outside of TTU, she works as the accompanist at First Baptist Church in Cookeville.
Before beginning her undergraduate degree, she attended Vanderbilt University on scholarship in the pre-college program where she performed with the Curb Youth Symphony Orchestra and studied flute with Kathryn Ladner. During this time, she was involved with the Fred J. Page band program where she served as a drum major, section leader, and soloist in various ensembles including the award winning marching band and indoor drumline. Also during this time, Ms. Singletary performed routinely with the Chapel Praise Band at Church of the City in Franklin under the direction of Jeff Anderson and Diane Dawson. Between 2011 and 2016, Ms. Singletary participated in fifteen honor ensembles including the Tennessee All-State Honor Band and the BOA National Honor Band of America. In addition, Ms. Singletary was awarded the Fred J. Miller Music Education Scholarship in 2015 for her teaching experience and involvement in exceptional ensembles throughout her high school career.
Ms. Singletary began a piano studio her freshman year of high school and continued teaching through graduation. Since beginning college, she has helped instruct at the Southeastern Drum Major Academy while also teaching individual conducting lessons. Along with her studies, Ms. Singletary served as the president of the TTU NAfME chapter where she worked to provide more opportunities for music education majors to strengthen their teaching skills and to gain exposure to new ideas in the world of music education.
Calista Richlen, Junior
Flutist Calista Richlen is from Mt. Juliet, TN and has been playing the flute for eight years. She is an instrumental music performance major in the studio of Dr. Mary Matthews at Tennessee Tech University's School of Music. At TTU, she is a member of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra, the TTU flute choir, Golden Eagle Marching Band, in the past was a member of the Concert Band and principal flute in TTU's University Orchestra. She is also the current vice president of the Tennessee Tech University Flute Organization.
Outside of School, she works with Livingston Academy's marching band and is their flute and piccolo instructor. Past studies and performances include All Star Symposium, Solo and Ensemble, and Tennessee Tech University's Flute Day. Previously, she was a student of Dr. Roger Martin.
Caleb Rodriguez, Sophomore
Caleb Rodriguez is currently a flute performance major at Tennessee TecH University's School of Music.
Mr. Rodriguez is a current student of Dr. Mary Matthews and former student of Dr. Roger Martin. At TTU, Caleb is 2nd Flute/Piccoloist of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra, 2nd chair flutist in the Tennessee Tech Wind Ensemble, and a member of the Tennessee Tech Flute Choir. As a vocal minor, he is also a member of the TTU chorale.
Prior to attending TTU, he performed as a member of the Tennessee Mid-State and All-State bands for three years and was selected to perform in the All-state Gold band.
Alli Harris, Sophomore
Flutist Alli Harris is originally from Ashland City, Tennessee. she is currently studying flute with Dr. Mary Matthews at Tennessee Tech University' school of music while working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. At TTU, Alli is a member of the Golden Eagle Marching Band and the Flute Choir.
Prior to attending TTU, she was a member of the Cheatham County Marching Cubs where She played flute for 3 years and was head drum major for an additional 2 years. Alli was also a flutist in the Cheatham High Concert Band for 4 years. In addition to her ensemble work, she has performed in multiple solo and ensemble competitions as a solo artist and in various duets and trios. Additionally, she participated in Honor band festivals at Austin Peay State University and Tennessee Tech University.
Alli is currently a volunteer teacher at Cheatham County Central High School.
Skylar McGee, Sophomore
Flutist Skylar McGee is from Winchester, TN, and currently lives in Cookeville, TN. she is majoring in Music Education at Tennessee Tech University’s School of Music where she is a student of Dr. Mary Matthews. At TTU, Skylar is a member of the Wind Ensemble, Golden Eagle Marching Band, and Flute Choir.
As a student at Franklin County High School, Skylar participated in the Tri-Lakes Band Association Clinic for four years. She also participated in several competitions with Franklin County Rebel Pride Marching Band under the direction of Thomas Isbell. Additionally, she performed with several flute choirs, the Tennessee Tech Festival of Winds and Percussion, and the Tennessee Tech Symposium. flutist for the Tennessee Tech marching band, wind ensemble, and flute choir.
Hunter Davis, Freshman
Hunter Davis is from Smithville Tennessee where she graduated from DeKalb County Highschool. She is pursuing a major in pre-medicine.
Ms. Davis has been playing flute for 7 years. She was first chair flute at DCHS and marched piccolo for three and a half years with the DCHS Fighting Tiger Marching Band.
She is currently a member of the Golden Eagle Marching Band and the TTU Flute choir.
Bethanie Taylor, Sophomore
Flutist Bethanie Summer Taylor is currently a Music performance major in the School of Music at Tennessee Tech University's School of Music where she is a student of Mary Matthews. At TTU, Bethanie is second flutist in the University Orchestra, a member of the flute choir, a member of the concert choir, and also participates in the Golden Eagle Marching Band.
She was first chair flutist at Jackson County high school and was also chosen for various horor bands throughout her last 5 years in the Jackson County band where she studied under Carroll Gotcher. Bethanie has participated in masterclasses with Dr. Roger Martin and Dr. Lisa Wolynec. In addition to her work at TN Tech, Bethanie assists with the Jackson County band camp, Jackson County Advanced choir, and she gives lessons to young flutists.
Rebecca Firth, Freshman
Rebecca Firth is from Kingsport, TN. She is majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Music. Prior to attending Tech, she played flute as a member of the All-East Band for four years and the Tennessee All-State Band for three years. Ms. Firth also has experience playing the Handbells and was the Handbell Director at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church prior to attending Tennessee Tech.
Aubrey Misanes, Freshman
Aubrey Misanes is currently a Music Education Major at Tennessee Technological University’s School of Music where she is a student of Dr. Mary Matthews. She is also a member of Tennessee Tech’s Golden Eagle Marching Band and the Tennessee Tech Flute Choir.
Prior to attending TTU she was in the concert and marching band at Livingston Academy for four years, and she was the first chair flutist for two. Her junior year she was also the assistant drum major of the marching band and she has participated multiple Honor Band Festivities at Tennessee Tech University and several Solo and Ensemble Competitions as a soloist.
Kayla Wilson, Freshman
Kayla Wilson is from Sparta, TN. She is majoring in nursing with a minor in Spanish. She loves playing flute and piccolo in her free time when she is not studying.
Kaitlynn Ragland, Freshman
Kaitlynn Ragland is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee and is a nursing major at TTU. She is an aspiring Labor and Delivery Nurse Practitioner. She loves music and it’s impact on others, as well as helping people.
Autum Winston, Freshman
Autum Winston is a flutist at Tennessee Tech University. She is majoring in music education, and is studying flute in the studio of Dr. Mary Matthews. She is a member of the Golden Eagle Marching Band and the Flute Choir.
Before attending school at Tennessee Tech University, Autum marched piccolo in the Franklin County Rebel Pride Marching Band and played flute in the concert band. She has performed in the Tennessee Tech All Star Symposium, Festival of Winds and Percussion, Tri-Lakes Band Association Clinic, and St. Olaf Music Academy Band and Flute Choir.
